100 Micron Filter Cartridges for Data Center Cooling Prefiltration

Neither is universally better; selection depends on fluid conditions and system protection requirements. A 100 micron filter captures smaller suspended matter than a 200 micron filter, providing greater particulate removal for downstream components. However, a 200 micron filter allows larger particles through while accommodating heavier coarse loading with less initial restriction. For data center cooling prefiltration, 100 micron cartridges offer balanced protection.

A 10 micron filter removes much smaller particulates, providing finer filtration suitable for polishing or protecting tight-tolerance equipment. A 100 micron cartridge serves as a pre-filter, catching larger solids before they reach finer media. Installing a 100 micron pre-filter upstream of a 10 micron filter prevents premature clogging of the fine filter, reducing cartridge replacement frequency and maintaining steady system pressure.

These cartridges are constructed from polypropylene, including the filter media, cage, core, and end caps. This all-polypropylene construction ensures broad chemical compatibility across diverse process water and chilled loop applications. Cartridges are available with multiple seal configurations, including EPDM, silicone, FKM, and E-FKM gaskets, to accommodate varying fluid chemistries and operating requirements.

The filter cartridges accommodate operating temperatures up to 176°F (80°C). The maximum operating differential pressure is 60 psi (4 bar) at 70°F (21°C), and 35 psi (2.4 bar) at 176°F (80°C). To maintain optimal filtration efficiency and prevent bypass, the recommended change-out differential pressure is 30 psi differential.

These single open-ended cartridges feature an outside diameter of 152 mm (6 inches) and utilize inside-to-outside flow direction. They are offered in multiple standard lengths, including 20, 40, 60, and 80 inches. The large-diameter format allows a single cartridge to replace multiple standard 10-inch filter elements, significantly simplifying change-outs and housing footprint requirements.
