Custom Fabricated Strainers for Data Center Cooling Applications

Duplex strainers offer multiple closure options including bolted, quick-opening, and yoke designs. These configurations allow maintenance teams to isolate one basket chamber while the other remains active, supporting continuous filtration without shutting down cooling loops. They can be configured with either NPT threaded or flanged connections conforming to ASME B16.5 standards for steel and stainless-steel piping.

Strainer baskets offer perforation diameters ranging from 1/32 inch to 3/4 inch, with woven wire mesh liners available from 20 to 200 mesh on standard baskets and up to 400 mesh on duplex models. Screen options include perforated plate, woven wire mesh, expanded metal, or pleated media providing approximately 20 to 60 percent open area.

Strainer baskets and duplex strainers operate up to 600 psig depending on the specific configuration. For higher pressure installations, temporary cone strainers handle maximum operating pressures up to 1,500 psig with ANSI 150 or 300 flat-face flange ratings. Differential pressures should be monitored, with recommended cleaning or change-out typically occurring between 5 and 20 psi differential pressure.

Temporary cone strainers are designed for initial system commissioning, pipe flushing, hydrostatic testing, and equipment startup protection. They install conveniently between pipe flanges to capture construction debris and mill scale before fluid reaches sensitive pumps, heat exchangers, or control valves. Once system flushing and cleanup are complete, they can be quickly removed from the piping.

Strainer baskets and temporary cone strainers are available in nominal pipe sizes from 2 inches to 24 inches, while duplex strainer housings range from 1/2 inch to 24 inches. Basket lengths can be selected from 4 inches to 36 inches depending on the strainer housing configuration and required flow capacity.

Quality documentation can be provided based on project requirements. Available documentation includes dimensional inspection records, hydrostatic pressure testing reports, weld inspection documentation, and material traceability verifying metallic materials meet applicable ASTM material standards. Passivated and polished finishes are also selectable for specific fluid cleanliness criteria.
