Disposable Filters for Data Center Cooling & Water Treatment

A paper filter is a porous, cellulose-based filtration medium commonly utilized for light-duty particle separation. In heavy-duty cooling loops and industrial water treatment environments, synthetic media such as polypropylene, polyester, and nylon are generally preferred over basic paper to withstand differential operating pressures up to 100 psi and operating temperatures ranging up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

Filter bags for cooling and process water systems are manufactured in nylon, polyester, and polypropylene. Synthetic felt options provide depth filtration for trapping sediment, rust, and suspended solids, while monofilament or multifilament mesh configurations deliver defined particle retention and high mechanical strength for high-flow water handling applications across data center chiller loops.

Micron ratings vary based on the filter style and configuration. Felt filter bags are available in ratings from 1 to 200 microns. Mesh filter bags offer ratings between 1 and 1500 microns for broader particulate capture. For fine filtration, high flow pleated cartridges provide particle removal ratings ranging from 0.5 to 100 microns.

High flow polypropylene cartridges have a recommended change-out differential pressure of 30 psi. They are rated for a maximum operating differential pressure of 60 psi at 70 degrees Fahrenheit and 35 psi at 176 degrees Fahrenheit. Regularly monitoring differential pressure across housings helps prevent bypass and ensures optimal cooling system protection.

Disposable filter bags are supplied in standard industry sizes including #1, #2, #3, and #4 configurations. Depending on housing compatibility and sealing needs, they can be configured with steel, stainless steel, or polypropylene rings, as well as molded plastic flanges. Optional handles and pull tabs are available for easy replacement.
