Depth Filter Cartridges for Data Center Cooling Water Treatment

A surface filter blocks particulates at the exterior layer of the media, which can cause debris to cake quickly across the inlet face. In contrast, a depth filter utilizes depth-oriented media where particulate penetrates into the internal structure of the material. This internal retention mechanism delivers high dirt-holding capacity and prevents rapid surface clogging during continuous data center cooling water treatment.

These high flow cartridges offer flexible particle removal across ratings from 0.5 to 100 microns. This range allows facility operators to target specific particle sizes depending on the requirements of their data center cooling water treatment systems, cooling towers, or chilled loop filtration processes, ensuring effective solid particulate control and protection for heat exchange equipment.

The filter media, cage, core, and end caps are constructed from polypropylene, providing broad chemical compatibility for industrial water treatment. Seal options include EPDM, E-FKM, FKM, and silicone. The materials are manufactured under an ISO 9001:2015-certified quality management system and comply with FDA requirements under 21 CFR as well as European Commission Regulation EU 10/2011.

The maximum operating differential pressure is 60 psi (4 bar) at 70°F (21°C). At elevated temperatures of 176°F (80°C), the high temperature differential pressure is rated at 35 psi (2.4 bar). The recommended change-out differential pressure is 30 psi differential, ensuring cartridges are replaced before performance drops or differential pressure exceeds safe operating limits.

These high flow filter cartridges feature an outside diameter of 152 mm (6 inches) and are available in standard lengths of 20, 40, 60, and 80 inches. They utilize a single open-ended configuration with an inside-to-outside flow direction. This oversized pleated design replaces multiple standard 10-inch cartridges to simplify maintenance and reduce overall consumption.

These cartridges are designed for various data center water treatment loops, including cooling tower water treatment, chilled loop filtration, and process water treatment. Additionally, they are used in industrial water treatment, reverse osmosis pre-filtration, ultrafiltration pretreatment, and reclaimed water treatment, supporting consistent uptime by preventing particulate buildup across critical facility cooling and heat transfer infrastructure.
