Eaton Model 72 Simplex Strainer for Data Center Cooling Systems

Eaton Model 72 simplex strainers are available in sizes ranging from 3/8 inch to 8 inches. Depending on facility piping requirements and system configurations, units feature threaded or flanged connections, including ANSI Class 125/150 and DIN flanged designs. Flow capacity ratings range from Cv 15 to 1400 based on the selected pipe diameter and configuration.

The Model 72 delivers a maximum design operating pressure of up to 200 psi (13.8 bar), depending on the specific model configuration. The operating temperature rating reaches up to 100°F (37.8°C) or up to 200°F, depending on the selected housing, basket, and seal materials, which include resilient EPDM, TFE, and Viton elastomer options.

Baskets are fabricated from stainless steel, with optional specialty materials available. Facilities can choose perforated or woven mesh elements to match their particulate removal requirements. Perforation sizes range from 1/32 inch to 1/2 inch, while fine woven wire mesh options span from 20 mesh to 400 mesh, delivering tailored protection against diverse suspended solids.

The Eaton Model 72 features a quick-opening cover that grants fast, tool-free access to the large-capacity internal basket. Facility technicians can inspect, remove, and clean accumulated debris with minimal downtime. Optional differential pressure-drop monitoring instrumentation is also available to signal when basket servicing is required, ensuring steady fluid flow across cooling circuits.

In mission-critical data center cooling systems, the Model 72 protects equipment across chilled water loops, cooling tower lines, condenser water systems, and closed-loop heat exchangers. It is also utilized in boiler feedwater lines, industrial water treatment, raw water intake, and service water systems to shield pumps and critical process machinery from clogging.

The strainer housing conforms to ASTM A351 material specifications for stainless steel castings and complies with ANSI Class 125/150 or DIN flange specifications. ABS Type Approval is also available where required, and project-specific material documentation can be provided upon request to satisfy stringent engineering compliance standards.
