Common strainer types include basket strainers, simplex strainers, and temporary cone strainers. Basket strainers utilize a perforated or mesh-lined cylindrical basket for ongoing closed-loop protection, while temporary cone strainers install between pipe flanges to capture construction debris, scale, and foreign particles during initial system startup, commissioning, and line flushing procedures.

Our strainer baskets and temporary cone strainers are fabricated from 316 stainless steel to provide high mechanical strength and corrosion resistance. They incorporate rigid metal construction with perforated plate, woven wire mesh, expanded metal, or mesh-lined configurations, with available surface finishes including mill, polished, and passivated depending on the configuration.

Screen options include perforations ranging from 1/32 inch to 3/4 inch diameter. Mesh configurations range from 20 to 200 mesh on basket strainers, and 20, 40, 60, 80, or 100 mesh on cone strainers, with fine micron linings also available. Total open area typically ranges between 20% and 60%.

Operating parameters depend on the specific configuration. Strainer baskets operate up to 600 PSIG and up to 500°F (260°C). Temporary cone strainers can handle up to 1,500 PSIG and temperatures up to 1,000°F (538°C). Both types support a maximum operating differential pressure of up to 50 psi (3.4 bar).

For basket strainers, the recommended cleaning differential pressure is 15 to 20 psi ΔP. For temporary cone strainers, the recommended change-out differential pressure is 15 to 20 PSI (1.0 to 1.4 bar) ΔP. Monitoring differential pressure ensures pumps and heat exchangers remain protected without restricting cooling flow.

Yes. Products are manufactured under controlled fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly processes. Dimensional inspection, weld inspection, material traceability, and quality documentation are available for applicable configurations, and materials may be supplied to applicable ASTM standards upon request for your application or project.
