Cooling Water Filters for Data Centers & Critical Facilities

Industrial chilled water systems and condenser loops utilize high-capacity mechanical filters, including duplex strainers, single or multi-bag housings, and high-flow cartridge vessels. These filters do not chill liquid themselves; rather, they continuously filter circulating chilled water loops to prevent fouling in chillers, heat exchangers, and cooling towers.

The service life of industrial filtration elements depends on particulate loading, flow volume, and media style. For bag filters and high-flow cartridges, replacement is typically dictated by differential pressure change-out indicators rather than fixed schedules. Reusable stainless steel strainer baskets can be washed, inspected, and returned to continuous service indefinitely.

Duplex strainers feature a dual-chamber design with an integrated flow-diverter valve. This allows facility operators to isolate one basket chamber for servicing and cleaning while cooling water flow continues through the parallel chamber, eliminating the need to shut down cooling loops in mission-critical environments.

Housings and strainer baskets are constructed from durable metals, including 304 and 316 stainless steel, with select housings offered in fiberglass. Elastomeric seal options include Buna-N, EPDM, PTFE, and Viton to provide chemical compatibility and reliable sealing across varied operating temperatures and pressures.

Temporary cone strainers install between pipe flanges during pre-commissioning, new piping startup, flushing, or hydrostatic testing. They capture construction debris, pipe scale, and welding slag before process water reaches pumps and heat exchangers, and can be removed once system commissioning and cleanup are complete.

Depending on the selected configuration and housing, units can be supplied compliant with ASME B16.5 flange dimensions, ASME Section VIII Division 1 pressure vessel codes, and ASTM material standards. Available quality documentation includes pressure testing, dimensional inspection, and material traceability reports.
